I knew I would love this essay as soon as I saw the title. Our son went through Parris Island, but I had to follow "Terminal Lance", the "comic strip" about the Marine Corps, in order to learn what a Blue Falcon was. Still, our son did tell us one recruit training story about "motivating" a Blue Falcon that wasn't pulling his weight to scuzz-brush the barracks floor.
