Default COMING BACK to SS AND DOING THE PROGRAM

    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    2019
    Height 6’0
    140lbs- 190

    All in lbs
    Squat 95 - 200 x 5
    Deadlift 135- 225 x 5
    Bench 90 x 155

Cut down to 160 , got lean but no strength so still skinny
Fast forward doing magazines BS training etc etc,

    All to failure and shit,
    Didn’t get much of it,

    Went up to
    Squat 235 x 5 - YES ONLY 30lbs in span of 2years because i am program hopping
Deadlift 352 x 4 - with roundback action, got injured
    Bench 220 x 5 , all out set
    Press 132 x 5

    YES VERY VERY WEAK!!!

Now coming back to SS for a MONTH of DOING THE PROGRAM

    Starting weight 160 to 172

    Squat 280 x 5 x 3
    Bench 232.5 x 5 x 3
DL - 330 x 5 - good form now (working my way up now i am currently doing 285 x 5 due to injury
    Press - 137.5 x 5 x

Yes sir, instant gains when YDTP

Now i am eating about 3500+ calories
    Weight 172lbs

Feeling some grind on my Bench/ Press,
    I think i still got 2 weeks left before I can’t do a set of 3 sets of 5,

Plan to stick at LP for SQUATS AND DL, I think i got a few weeks/months ( GODWILLING)

Please give me some advice how to adjust my Pressing excercise , TO TEXAS METHOD
OR HLM, even progressing 2.5lbs per week (bench focus) is still 10lbs per month,

    Godwilling

(I have try texas method 1 whole week, seems i got beat up, i start a bit higher on load , being impatient and greedy) (not doing this at the moment, switched back to LP) and don’t know what to do next,

    Thankyou in Advance ,

So you are now 6' and 172, at 28. You are currently 50 pounds underweight. Nothing else is relevant.

Now i am ready to regain all the weight (190) + 20lbs-30 more,

should i do more LP? Or go to early intermediate programming while gaining my bodyweight back sir mark, 40-50lbs, might take about 3-4 months to REGAIN, whatever it takes to get strong

Before i move back to SS , i went on a CUT

    So i was “UNDERWEIGHT” now

But Sir Mark, I AM DOING YOUR PROGRAM
    In a MONTH
+12lbs bodyweight - (more to come)

    +55lbs on the squat
    + 15lbs on the bench
    +15lbs on press
    With a 3 sets of 5,

    Deadlift with a good form of 315 x 5
Took some weight off because i watched all my recorded videos my DL looks like a shrimp , and all that roundback action aka scaredy

Really need some direction now and i would say the starting strength is a hell of a CHEATCODE TO GET STRONG

The advice is put 5 pounds on the bar and keep eating, for many many weeks. When you get over 200lbs bodyweight and have gone through all the late novice program modifications, maybe you can think about doing Texas Method.
Presses are done for 3 sets of 5, not 5 sets. That's why you're stuck. Do the program.
Your bench is pretty strong already, you probably have been doing it for a long time so that is likely to be the first lift to go into intermediate programming, WHEN IT'S TIME TO, not when you feel like it.
