Thanks for the feedback. Since we recorded this episode, I've decided to bring the SS Gyms podcast to a close around the end of the year. I should've made this a two-hour episode.

And not to worry, I am passionate but mostly friendly!

Ray, question for you after listening to this. Have you come across a place in the Pacific NW that offers self pay calcium scans? These types of procedures seem to be rare without a referral. Especially for men under 40. Im about an hour south of you in Mountain Home.

I searched around a bit and found that St. Luke's offers them. Hopefully that's helpful.

Thanks. I saw that as well but under the assumption they would not allow access without a doctors referral. Ill reach out and see what they say.

They may charge you LESS if you’re self-pay and can find an employee who has the authority to bend the price schedule. Sometimes they’ll even advertise the actual price differential!

You may have look for fine print in their ads for this.

By the way, this negotiation business is advice I give to anyone who doesn’t have insurance. I know many docs who are willing to cut deals with patients who offer to pay cash.

I’ve seen this phenomena specifically with calcium score studies.

This was a great podcast. I hope youll consider bringing it back for guest episodes when you have someone with something particularly useful to say like in this one.
