If you are still a novice why not,

    Day One
    Squat
    Press
    Deadlift

    Day Two
    Squat
    Bench Press
    Deadlift

If deadlifting two days a week is too much or if it becomes too much, switch to power cleans on of the days. Don't make this too complicated. Your life just became way more complicated. You do not need to make strength training complicated right now, much less ever.

cant believe noone else is recommending to just DTFP and see how you go rather than admitting defeat and switching to 2 days. Comon.

Agreed. Try telling your wife and child that you're going to train three days a week whether they like it or not. Get back to us with the results of this completely earnest suggestion!

Yep, need to find a decent extended-stay hotel to DTFP in.

I posted earlier that I continued to train 6 days a week almost 2 hours a day...you understand that new born babies sleep around 18 hours per day right? If you can't make time to train during that you are doing something wrong, or just copping out. And if you can do 2 sessions, you can definitely do 3.
It wasn't a strain on any relationships, it improved them.
It's critical that you find ways to still do what you need to do to be a human or you will go crazy and do a bad job as a parent anyway. This is really basic stuff.

Sometimes there are babies that need extra attention for whatever reason, that's a case by case basis, but your default should not be to take a holiday from training (if you are indeed serious about training). Big if. Not going to comment further.

My comment was a perhaps insufficiently conspicuously ironic response to the "DTFP" comment above. I am familiar with your situation: you train as often as you have time to, and sometimes that's two days a week.

Finding time to train around kids is one thing. Recovering on 0-4 hours of sleep in the first weeks of their life is something else entirely.

It’s been a few years but I wish I’d been doing SS during new baby time. I remember it as a miserable few years of shitty nappies (diapers), watching breastfeeding, screaming and celibacy. 3 x 1 hour of lifting would have made things a bit more manageable.
