I know BJJ & powerlifting are not part of the same equation. However, any advice out there for a 5-11, 250 lb, almost 50, BJJ practitioner (2x/week) who wishes to hit a 500 lb deadlift? Current deadlift is 415. Any feedback is appreciated.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned that I’ve done the NLP & have hit a plateau. It appears the BJJ is draining me too much, especially on a training day after a BJJ session the prior night. Should I stick w/ the NLP but only 2 days/week? Again, any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe break up the movement into haltings and rack pulls and see where it goes?

You could break up the A and B workout and squat in one and deadlift in one. That’s hitting the movement 3x In 2 weeks. Also what is your overall goal? Is it hitting a DL PR or something else?? I would think BJJ only twice a week shouldn’t hinder your recovery unless your rolling an hour straight but it appears for you it’s to much. What’s your BF at 250??? Lots of variables here. Inevitable you can’t optimize multiple things at once, especially when your skill gets better and better. So is 500 at the top of the pyramid or getting better at BJJ?

I would think you could manage doing the program and BJJ only twice a week on an off day and make the same progress as not doing BJJ. I’ll leave the programming to the pros but do you think you stalled due to fatigue? What are you feeling the next day ?

He stalled (if in fact he actually stalled) due to a lack of recovery. Likely he worries about his abs more than his training.
