On the CPAP front, all is going swimmingly. Some irritation around the nose the first few days and ongoing dry mouth. I need significantly less rack time to feel refreshed and at that I feel infinitely better than 3 months ago when I was still drinking and before the CPAP. My energy levels are higher and my mind is more clear and better focused. I'll say it again, if you have doubts about the quality of your sleep, seek medical guidance.

A week before Thanksgiving I was 255 and during these holidays I lost 9-10 pounds.

Yesterday I was hanging up fliers for the Jujitsu class next Wednesday. I have been putting up fliers at the local Gold's Gym for the last few sessions and this time the guy at the desk got really curious and wondered if I was interested in teaching at their gym. He even took me to see the manager. We talked a while about equipment, insurance, and costs. Also just what it was that I taught, them having had a trainer teach kick boxing in the past. I explained a little about self defense and the difference between that and recreational kick boxing. Words were getting nowhere, so I asked the desk guy, named Ben, if he would indulge me in a small demonstration. I asked him to grab my lapel in a setup for a sucker punch. I turned clockwise, grabbed his wrist, twisted it inverted, and torqued it. Ben, who is in his early 20's and a fairly impressive physical specimen, buckled his knees immediately. This was done at about half speed and force so as to demonstrate rather than hurt him. Message delivered.
I have my doubts this will go anywhere, because I do not want to get insurance which I don't need now teaching at the park district. It remains to be seen how Gold's wants to deal with me as a potential employee carried under their own insurance. So we'll see.

I am engaging in an experiment with my blood pressure. Currently, I take Losartan for my daytime BP and Terazosin for nighttime. I figgered that the nighttime high BP was a function of bad sleep from apnea. So the last few days I've refrained from taking Terazosin and this morning my BP was 128/77. Perhaps this medication can be dispensed with.
Weight: 241! I have now dropped a weight class, from 125 KG (275 lbs.) to 110 KG (242 lbs.). I competed in the 125's, and I-HATE(!) metrics. A French plot if there ever was one. BUT! I am happy as Hell to have entered a lower class even though I have no plans to compete in powerlifting again.
I did a graded exercise protocol (GXP) today, a very quick and efficient way to get some cardio. It consists of:
- 5 minutes ramping up to 85% of MHR.
- 5 minutes of work at 85% of MHR.
- 5 minutes cooling down.
Average HR was 137 bpm @ 90% of MHR.
