Thanks for the offer CP, but I have no bar at all. I've seen several DIY racks and while probably adequate, they give me the willies. Squats scare me bad enough as it is.

    I do appreciate it.

Oh, I do have a trap bar I'm not using. 75 lbs. I used it before I could accommodate a rack. I used it as a substitute for squats.
(yes I know the error of my ways)

I'm sure it has all the drawbacks that Rip says. But it won't fall on you, you don't need a rack then.

So, maybe a couple of sheets of plywood under it, indoors somewhere.
It is nice enough weather to put in garage. That is where they are now.

Squats terrify me, even with a "store bought" rack.

Better than a bosa ball and stretchy bands I guess.

My go to for squats at home if necessary will be hip belt squats. I already have that rig.

Yeah, that solves the safety issues. Good luck.

    Journal During the Plague
Day 30 of Pritzker the Hut's general lockdown
    Report from Prisoner Number 6

Today was all about weapons practice, mostly non-traditional Asian martial arts weapons, rather stuff we can choose to carry (mostly) legally on our daily rounds. They were:

Yawara: In this case a 7" flashlight that is also a stun taser. Not legal to carry in Illinois unless you have a CCL, which I do.

Tanto: Or knife, a Schrade double edged Viper.

    Bokken: Wooden practice katana (sword).

    Bo: Staff.

This was done at the Becker Boathouse on Lake on the Campus. It was a cool, drizzly morning, and very green. Something straight out of many Japanese paintings. I started off with my Jujitsu warmup routine to get things loose, especially my creaky wrists and lower back. I took the weapons and practiced with them in the order described above while being eyeballed by a passing snowy egret and one of those beautiful red winged blackbirds with it's dramatic stripes and splashes of red and yellow on their glossy black feathers. It was a Zen moment. Invigorating, relaxing, and through all that, an average heart rate of 138 bpm @ 91% of maximum heart rate.

Hi Mark, now your talking! I know this is a tough time to get things for setting up a home gym but I'm sure it is a wise decision. Good luck and stay well.

Every sports place is sold out here too. So I am on FB looking as well as contacting the local closed gyms to see if they will sell me some stuff. I don't want to take undue advantage but I figger a little cash in hand now might spell them over the dry period now. It could well be that I'll pick up stuff fire sale cheap when some go under later. I'd rather not be that guy then. But I am not getting bent over like this again.
