Amazing. I was thinking about Marlon Perkins just last night.

DB and I spent the weekend looking around the reopened state parks down here. I have been chronically sore the last week or so and decided a deload was in order. Normally, I have these programmed in on a spreadsheet every 4th week. But I kind of lost lock since Gauleiter Pritzker assumed command.
Deload/Speed/Dynamic Effort (no weighted back pack)
4 sets of 5
Dips
Pullups
Reverse Hyperextensions
One Legged Squats
Knee Ups
Hamstring stretches.
As aggravating as this all is, the lakeside workouts do have their compensations. A mom mallard was herding her ducklings in a reed sheltered nook of the lake, very cute. As I walked back to my Edge a red tailed hawk soared over the East point of the lake crying out. Which promptly sent a gaggle of mallards into a waddling, quacking, feather trembling panic.

I woke up still feeling sore on a all over, but particularly my left instep. A curse of the Hurling bone structure of the foot, high arches and insteps. OD (Our Daughter) who got 95% of the Hurling DNA has the same problems. If I'd had any common sense, I would have rested. But no, more attacks on the Type II fast twitch muscles. I wrapped my foot securely, laced up my hiking boots to near cutoff of circulation and had at it.
2 sets of 3 with lots of brisk walking in between.
Kettlebell Swings
Box Jumps (sticking the landings was a tad unpleasant)
Medicine Ball Slams
Clap Pushups
Concluded with some hamstring stretches.

The foot is feeling better and the chronic all over aches are receding. This deload seems to be a good move for active recovery.

Day 43 of Pritzker the Hut's general lockdown
Report from Prisoner Number 6
Today was a bike ride around the SIU campus and lake. No one else around.
I pulled the trigger on buying some used Olympic plates from a local supplier in Herrin, IL. They were overpriced for used iron plates and no heavier than 35 lb. plates were available, so I may have to improvise with smaller diameter plates for deadlifts.

The lake workout got rained out. It didn't let up until noon, so I drove over to Herrin and picked up my weights. The catch was six 35 lb. plates, four 25 lb. plates, two 10 lb. plates, two 5 lb. plates, and two 2 1/2 lb. plates. They are an ugly bunch, mostly unmatched with a couple of brands of plates I have never heard of, and several are rusty, totaling 345 lbs. With the 45 lb. bar, I have 390 lbs., enough for testing a max deadlift for now.
The 35's will need a 1 1/2" boost to get them to the right height for deadlifts, since their diameter is smaller than a standard 45 pounder.
All in all, not perfect but they'll get the job done. They are mine, and I now have an alternative in the event there's a relapse in the current madness.

I have largely liberated myself from this lockdown. I have managed not to don a mask even once, I won't stay home just to be a nice sheep, and now I am not at the mercy of that arbitrary oaf in Springfield.
