Out for a ramble on the Chautauqua Bottoms trail this morning. A large and fearless doe was busy stripping bark from the brush who gave me a glance of attitude over her shoulder now that deer season was over.

My plan for the meet and the attempts is in train.

    Squats:
    1st attempt-240, 2nd attempt-281, 3rd attempt-303.

    Bench Press:
    1st attempt-185, 2nd attempt-226, 3rd attempt-231.

    Deadlift:
    1st attempt-336, 2nd attempt-385, 3rd attempt-391.

There may be some adjustments in these on the fly if I am feeling stronger or not so strong the day of the meet.

Some more conditioning today. Rounds of box jumps, speed bag, rower, medicine ball tosses, heavy bag, SciFit, prowler pushes.

I have to confess a mounting case of the willies for the powerlifting meet Saturday. Nothing like the near panic attack I had before my first trip to the USPA/IPL Worlds back some 10 years ago when I first started competing. But it's there. Gotta maintain an even strain as Gordon Cooper said in "The Right Stuff."

I guess that's why most times your best lifts happen at meet when nervousness turns up the adrenalin. Good luck Mark!

    Whew! Man was that hard.

The bottom line is I managed to collect a total poundage for the squat, bench press, and deadlift that qualified me to compete in the USPA Drug Tested Nationals and the IPL Drug Tested Worlds. Along the way, I set official USPA Illinois state and USPA National records in all three lifts and collected a gold medal for my division. I was the oldest lifter there.

I'm SOOO tired. More on this tomorrow.

BTW, thanks for the support Jerry and Shug. I thought I had done that already, but I see the post didn't take.

Nice! I think you deserve at least a week off.

As you will see in the next post, while I should have taken off, I had to scratch the itch of the question my bench press failures turned up at the meet, Jerry. So I lifted this morning.
