Rounds this morning of prowler, speed bag, crunches, Jujitsu striking drill, stretching.

I got confirmation of the coaching certification registration last night, so good to go there. Planning the Tulsa meet trip with DB. It's a 7+ hour drive and I have to gauge how my back will feel after that.

Last day of Special Olympics bowling tournaments today. This is league support.

Mock meet. I wore my USPA/IPL Worlds t-shirt from 2013 for luck. Along with my lucky red socks.

Squat: 225-255-280. I felt good coming up from the hole on 280 with no back strain. Even so, I wished I had someone knowledgeable to spot my depth.

Bench Press: 225-235-240, 0. The 235 moved reasonably well, so I figgered I had 240 in the bag. But no, I barely got it a few inches off my chest. Had a good young spotter though, who was amazed I was even in the gym, let alone contending for qualifying for the Worlds.

Deadlift: 315-355-360. The red socks and Asics clown shoes came through. My hook grip was solid. I know I have 10+ more pounds in that lift, but I stuck to the meet format. You get three attempts unless going for a record.

Bottom line? I hit a total of 875, which qualifies me for the Worlds. Done and done. Now I have to do it in that judged drug tested meet in Tulsa. Which will still have me lifting in the Nationals and North Americans where I can set records in my age and weight class.

    Thank you Bergs.

Who knows? This year the drug tested Worlds were in Limerick, Ireland and the non-tested Worlds were in Leipzig, Germany. Maybe the testeds will be in Stockholm next year.

Somewhat of an oversight yesterday. I forgot to test my 1RM for the seated press. So, off it was to do my damnedest.

    Seated Press: 45-95-135-155-175-180.

Shortly, DB and I will be leaving for softball practice with Special Olympics. It's 92F out with a "feels like" 104F by the weather gurus. A good breeze going, but it's like a gust out of a blast furnace. (shudder) My Frogg Togg cooling cloth is being soaked and chilled.

In other news, there's an upcoming Special Olympics event called the Plane Pull at the local airport about 3 miles from our house. Teams pull a plane 12 feet for time. I almost got into this a while back when I thought the local Highland Games wouldn't come off. The IL Department of Corrections sends some real Clydesdales to haul that 737, so there's little chance of winning. I figgered maybe to try to assemble a team and call ourselves The Rented Mules. That way when we get beat we can say we were beaten like rented mules.
