Working with Purple Belt takedowns again. We managed to finish off all of them. A couple of them were very challenging and will take more practice to get to a point where they can be applied effectively. The takedowns are increasingly complex and require good coordination of using the hands and stepping correctly at the same time. Others are dependent on timing, one of which is a foot sweep. Once again, it required me to take quite a few falls. Stiff.

I'm still feeling the effects of last night's falls. Which coupled with the even deloaded squats yesterday will have me visiting the chiropractor a second time this week. One adjustment usually does the trick for me, but alas, not this time.

So I stuck to things that wouldn't tax my lumbars too much, if at all. Rounds of SciFit, crunches, speed bag, medicine ball toss, heavy bag, and elliptical.

I feel kind of like the Lloyd Bridges character in Airplane. Except in my case, "Looks like I picked the right week for a deload."

Right now I am recovering and regrouping from two days of moving Our Daughter into her first house. The load consisted of a queen sized bed (mattresses are hellacious to try to pick up and move anywhere) three big sofas, chairs, a dinette set and other sundry furniture. Some of the stuff I got from my sister who had been storing it handed down through our family for a hundred years or so, for a few pieces. The heat here was stultifying which made the multiple U-Haul loads all the more sapping.

Sitting in my recliner feeling thoroughly gassed.

And yet you moved all day like a 20 year old. Well done.

Yeah, and I burned an astronomical number of calories too.

The local media coverage of Deanna Price's send-off. DB and I can be seen around 1:00. She's got a green t-shirt on and I'm in the Hawaiian shirt.
