I've had a lot of diarrhea. I'm pretty sure I ate something bad.

    Week 3 - Deadlift
    200.0 lbs x 5
    227.5 lbs x 3
    252.5 lbs x 6

The past few weeks I've been deadlifting with my Rogue Bar. I deadlifted tonight on my Texas Power Bar and that turned out to be a bad idea. I had more than 6 reps at 252.5 in me, but after 6 my hands were completely toasted. I used mixed grip, but the sharp knurling was digging significantly into my hands. I might only use the TPB for maximal attempts, but even that seems unnecessary since anything I can pick up I don't need straps for.

I'm considering selling the TPB since I don't really need it. The center knurling is unnecessary since I hi-bar squat, and it's also undesirable in the clean and press and irrelevant in the bench.

    105.0 lbs x 5
    120.0 lbs x 3
    135.0 lbs x 9

    155.0 lbs x 1

    85.0 lbs x 12 x 5

    Dumbbell Row:
    40.0 lbs x 12 x 3 <- easy
    45.0 lbs x 12 x 2 <- perceived effort as difficult as 40 lbs last week

My bench seems to be stronger than it has ever been. I can't compare it directly, but I was failing at 135 x 5 x 3 a couple months ago and my best before that was 140 x 5. Linear progression didn't seem to be working that well. I really like 5/3/1.

I can't find the Boring But Big article that gave me the idea to do 10, 12, 14,... on the accessory lifts every cycle.

    252.5 lbs x 8 - ???

There's a new gym in town. I was going to go check it out and do my workout there, but they were closed. It's supposed to be more of a sports place. They do boxing, wrestling, MMA, and Crossfit. From the pictures I saw they have squat racks and bumper plates.

I ended up going to the rock climbing gym and doing my workout there. I'm not sure if their bars weigh 45 lbs, so there's a chance I might have been ~10 lbs light today.

That's pretty much it for my 2nd cycle of 5/3/1. Time flies quickly.

I worked out at Elite Moxie Gym. They've only been open for 6 weeks and it's a pretty decent facility. Here's a list of some of the equipment they have:

    • Two power racks
    • A couple benches
    • A few treadmills
    • Wrestling/general purpose room
    • Sparing room
    • Boxing training room
    • Boxing ring
    • Squat racks
    • Bumper plates
    • Prowler
    • Sled

There's a lot of room and that's something I severely lack working out at home. The main caveat is their hours. They're only open until 10:30 during the week and a little bit earlier on the weekends, but it's workable for $15/month. Since they just officially opened not too long ago they're running a special on rates. I have no idea how gyms make money selling memberships for peanuts, but that's not my problem.

The other problem is their barbells suck. They're cheap pieces of crap and I have better ones at home. I think they might be light. I'm going to need to weigh them to see how much they actually weigh. I calculated my deadlift weights off of a little bit more today.

The owner said it would be okay if I brought my own barbell. There's a lot of space in the facility so I'm sure there's some place to stash it. I could also get one of these Proloc Blockers so it would be unusable without a key.

Worked out at Elite Moxie Gym. I weighed the bars and they varied from 36.4 lbs to 44 lbs. I don't know how a person would be able to do a strength program with an 8 lbs variance.

It has been a stressful week and the day before yesterday I didn't sleep at all.

Tried a thumbless grip, my right thumb didn't like it.

I have a lot of stuff going on with my career so I'll probably be doing quite a few "not doing jack" days.
