Hey, guys! What do you think of BYOD...bringing your own device at the office? A lot of staff are suggesting this. It's not only literally bringing your personal laptop at the office but you can also work from home or anywhere. You will be given a permission to access your company's files / data wherever you wish to work. However, the big question is...will this be safe? I know this is going to be convenient for most workers but in terms of security, that is a BIG QUESTION MARK for the management. What do you think of it?

As someone who works in the IT department... it's a fucking nightmare when cheap jerkoffs insist there's nothing wrong with their Windows XP system from 2006 and that it's my fault none of the company apps work on it.

If we don't control the device, we don't have control over the data on the device.

From a security perspective (malware, insttalling patches, etc.) it seems like a phenomenally bad idea.

Thanks for your inputs. We're looking into Shadow IT because we've heard how it can better secure BYOD programs. We're hoping that this'll be the key so we can implement it. Perhaps you've heard of it?
