Thurs., 8.16. 221.6#. Conditioning Day, or something. If I start the workout in the gym proper, I'm too warm to go out to the shed and do real conditioning. So, I treat this like a lawn & garden project. To the shed right away, knowing it's gonna suck, embracing the suck, and finally wishing it would suck more. This was one of those workouts where half my water bottle ended up being poured on my head.

Clean & Press: 65x5, 85x3, 111x3,3,3. An old pair of VTX bumpers, split down the middle, so they always roll to the flat side. Not ashamed to say I beat them like rented mules.

How in the world does one Overhead Squat? Criminy, I can't bend that way.

Power Clean: 115x3, 135x2,2,5. A little bit of arm pull, and probably twelve other heresies I'm unaware of.

Anyway, it's all a warm up for:

The Smedley Medley: Sprint the Prowler 50' with 180#. Sprint back with the Farmer's Handles at 100#. Hug the 40# sandbag to the chest and walk back (not heavy, but makes it hard to breathe). Catch the breath and do it again. x2,3,3,3,3.

Beef Goulash, with buttered kale & sour cream, banana split.
Wife is finally hooked on Longmire, so that's cool.
Went to sleep an hour early, woke up feeling like a bag of rocks. Must be doing it right.

If you're a musician with any friends, Halloween Band Season is upon you. I'm suddenly in three bands, two of which are pretty busy, and one of which wants to be busier. Definitely have to drop my Metal Art class, and might have to go to a 3-day format. Boo-hoo.

Tues., 8/21. 217.2#. Gah! forgot my training log. Well, what's a little VFR into IMC? I'll only be up for a little while, anyway.

    CoC: a bunch, we'll call it 5x5.

Huevos Rancheros with bacon. Oh, yeah, we had the rice and refried beans, all that stuff. Should have been there.

Sun., 8/26. 222#. A good weekend, to be sure. I now have my dual-trace oscilloscope working. Time to take apart all the things!

Another crowded Sunday, so out to the beastly hot garage.

    DL: 135x10, 225x5, 265x8, 315x6, 350x5 - hook.

    Rows: 225x5,5,5,5. Straps.

Wed., 8/29. 219.8#. impressive, considering all the hashbrowns & dumplings I had last night. #liverandonions4lyfe

    SQ: 45x..., 135x8, 230x10, 270x8, 310x6.

    HiBar: 225x8,8.

    FSquat: 135x10,12.

    GM: 95x10,10,10.

Schwinn Aerodyne - yes, the vintage gold one. Set timer for 10 minute countdown, and did 6 x 15sec sprints during that time. #isactuallycardio

    CoC: 5x5.

I can tell I did cardio, because my exercise-induced-asthma shows up. fairly mild, only lasts about an hour.

Beef Larb: basically the Thai version of Bachelor Chow, so there's 50% more fish sauce, lots of fresh basil & mint leaves, and I have to go to the store that has good lemongrass. Added some of my preserved Key Limes for that extra oomf.

3 mile walk. There. Cardio done.

Bench: 45x..., 135x8, 155x6, 175x12. Yeah, I really underestimated my weights for this cycle.

    Incline: 95x10, 115x10, 135x8.

    DB Press: 35x8,8,8.
    Facepulls: 30x20,20,25.

    CoC: 3x8.

Band practice, then shrimp in butter with garlic, basil & sage.

Sun., 9/02. 211.4#. Beef Short Ribs, when cut thinly across the bias, fry up like minute steaks, and require minimal, if any, marinade. So good with eggs.

    CoC: 2x2.

Power Cleans: 135x3,4,3,1. 145x3,2,2,3. These are kinda good, actually. Still hard on my wrists, but if I kinda almost let go of the bar and let it crash down on my shoulders, it works better.

Quick snack: cabesa de res taco, later: Steaks & zuchinni.
