Tuesday climbing, last night a very large curry.
    Today:
    deadlift 40x5,5, 60x5, 70x5, 80x12 Felt good.
ohp 25x3, 27.5x5,5,5,3 Felt much easier. Either a slightly light bar, or more rest was helping
squat 45x5,5,5 Finally remembered how to squat. Turns out for all I know knees out is essential, I wasn't doing it. These felt completely different once I started.
chinup 2,2,1 Still having to get a boost at the bottom.

Lazy Saturday, then yesterday I ended up in work, non-stop from 10am until 7pm with a half-hour lunch. Academia really sucks sometimes. I could only read words, but not sentences by the end of that. Then my scumbag brain decided it didn't want to sleep, and was still wide awake at 2am. And of course, today I am so knackered I can barely stand to look people in the eye. Small-d depression sucks, it really does. It's bloody horrible.

    Dragged myself to the gym:
    squat 45 3x5. Remembering how.
    ohp 20x5, 25x3, 27.5x5, 30x2,2
    deadlift 60x5, 70x5, 80x1, 85x8
    row 40 3x5

    Yesterday 45 minutes bouldering.
    Today:
squat 47.5 3x5 Remembering how, but damn does this feel embarassingly heavy.
    ohp 25x3, 27.5x3, 30x3x2
    clean and press 30x3
power clean 30x3, 35x3, 40x5x3 Brought these back as deadlifting twice a week becoming too much. Feel pretty good.

Run yesterday, 2 miles, 19:30. Hard. I've acquired mild hayfever sometime in the last few years and this was a bad day for it.

Put my belt back in action as I'm no longer stupidly weak. Still feels a bit stupid to use for squats this light though.
    Squat 50 3x5
    OHP 30 3,2,3
    Deadlift 87.5 x10
    Chin 2,1,1
Wobbly knees and lightheaded before even getting to the deadlifts.

Squat 60 3x5 finally back to the real plates. Hard, but feel good. My back seems to be coping fine with the slow increase.
    Press 30 4,4,3 25x7
Deadlift 92.5x10 Going to keep upping weight and let reps drop as they will. Couple more weeks should see me back at 100!

4 years (minus a week) since last log entry and a good 3 years since touching a bar, I've finally got a garage I can train in and shall be giving this another try. I got a 10kg kettlebell last Christmas and have at least managed some presses and rows with that.

    Thursday 13th
Feeling out just how weak I've got.
Squat barx5, 30kgx5, 35x5 At this point every leg muscle cramped up as soon as I moved. 30x2 x5
    Bench press 20x2x5, 25x3x5
Deadlift 40x5, 50x5, 55x5 Testing the water with 60x1, 70x1 both easy and then called it a day
Chins 2x1 with embarassing amount of band assist

Friday proper sore in the legs. Walking hurt, walking downstairs sucked.

    Saturday 15th
Squat 20x2x5, 30x5, 35x3x5 No cramp, remembering how to keep my knees out
OHP 20x5, 22.5x3x5 Trying to come back with a wider grip than I recall using, as that got limiting fast.
    Power clean 20x5, 30x5x3
Dips also with embarrassing amount of band 3x3

Much less soreness today. Overall it seems I've retained a decent amount of strength, but conditioning has suffered a lot. Squats feel hellishly heavy. Deads feel pretty OK, I reckon I could walk outside and hit 80 no problem. Press, which has always been super weak, is probably closest to my old numbers. I never did get past about 37.5kg. Going to see how far a slow linear progression can get towards old maxes. No idea what they were when I stopped, as all sorts of things happened through 2013-15, but all time 1RMs are Squat 102.5, Bench 55, Dead 140, Press 37.5 and PC 57.5 (although it was pretty bad). In 6 months I'd like to be back to the 90-50-120-35-50 sort of place. That feels a bloody long way though.

    starting strength coach development program
    Tuesday 18th
    Leisurely walk about 3.8 miles

    Squat 20x2x5, 30x3, 37.5 x 3x5
second and third sets way better than first.
    Bench 20x5, 27.5 3x5
    nice and fast
    DL 40x5, 50x5, 60x5
fine. Heavy in the hands though
    Chin-"up" 3 x "slow" negatives

Starting to get the hang of it again, although everything feels so heavy.
