But I got flooded, my self preservation mechanism engaged, my judgment went out the window, and I couldn't derail my last semi-lucid train of thought. Which was, "Shoot this guy, he's trying run me over!"
That seems totally reasonable to me.

    4/23/15

    Squat
    45x5x2
    95x5
    135x3
    150x2
    165x2
    180x2
    190x1@7
    205x1@8.5
215x1@10 and it was a real grinder. This might just be a PR. I have footage of a triple at 215 done back when I weighed 25 pounds more, but they were high. So...PR?
    180x2@8.5
190x2@9 kinda trashed from the single at 10 so I dropped down to
175x2x2@8, 8, to get in some faster and more explosive reps

    Press
    45x5x2
    55x5
    65x2
    75x5x3 (no belt)

    Deadlift
    135x5
    185x5
    225x5
    245x5

That's kind of you Gwynn, but the incident haunts me to this day. It was a bad shoot and although sadly not all that uncommon, it could have turned out very bad. As it was, it was bad enough. I can't say I'm proud of myself for what I did and what fell out from it. http://startingstrength.com/resource...924#post275924

I understand what you mean by: "there was no real way to justify shooting at him after he had passed me by and was driving away. At that point he was no real threat to me any more. The truth was and is he had made me so angry my judgment failed me completely"

This is true, and I don't think retaliatory violence is a good thing. Between you and me though, I still think it's an understandable response. I'm glad you only took out the tail light and you were able to learn from the mistake, instead of being taken down by it.

Gwynn, I so appreciate your understanding in this.

It'll just have to remain some of the baggage I can't let go of.
