    Hey M-T as,for,the belt use, for years I followed Dr. Ken's training ideas and later on did get to train at his gym. He sure was against using a belt in training. I really try to use mine on what to me are my heavy work sets. I do,feel it ads a bit of saftey and for sure some confidence on sqts.

    The shoulder is not too painful,worst time is when I wake up in the AM. I did try getting in to position to sqt last week with a straight bar and couldn't even get under it in a HB fashion.

    230/4 4 4 90 sec between sets no belt
    Decided not to do box sqts today.
    And rather then try a what would be a heavy Dl for me I did a lower weigh for 3 sets with short rest.

    I did a little more weight on the press although less reps.
    And one more rep on the bench press.
    Not so much pain so I guess the rehab is going ok.
    I will keep the weigh the same for both these lifts next week.

    SB Sqt bar/10 95/6 135/5 165/3
    195/4 4 4 with belt
    DL 135/5 185/5 205/2 230/1
    265/1 with belt 230/5 no Beltane sqt here
    I did 260x5 two weeks ago, last week did a few sets with 230 no belt.
    I thought I could get 265 for 3 but wasn't happening today . If I had got the 3 reps I wouldn't have sme the back off with 230.
    Not trying to make excuses but it was over 90 degrees here for the last few days .
    Driving to NC tomorrow to visit my son. I should be able to do my press WO at his house, but will probably wait till I get home next week to sqt and DL .

    After I destroyed my back two years ago, I will never squat a heavy set without a belt again. Old injuries have been acting up down there again, starting about 3 weeks ago; I've managed to avoid using the belt for DLs, but it comes with me to the gym every time now. If I have to slip it on (like what I had to do in the middle of cycle-2 for several weeks), then I will -- none of this 'hero' crap.

    Just to clarify, I wasn't giving you an insult with my last comment. The 'weak old man' line is what you're saying about yourself -- don't think that's justified.

    Drove to NC to visit my son on Thursday
    I did my pressing at his house and at least did a little better then last week. Did the.trap bar since it was.there . I had sent.it down. to my son last year. It was his and he likes using it to DL? Driving home today, should be ok to sqt on Wed.

    Was planing to do some sets of SB box sqts but got stuck at first set with working weight so did a few sets at a lower weight without the box. Sure felt weak today. Maybe the long drive or the fact that since I ate so much during my trip I had no appetite since yesterday .
    Time to rethink my training plan.
    SB sqt. Bar/10 95/6 135/5 165/5 no belt
    Box sqt 195/3 205/2 230/ fail. Had to let go bar and pull myself up using rack rails.
    Did SB Sqts no box 155/3 3 3 with belt paused at bottom
    V handle pulldown 75/12 125/6 6 6

    starting strength coach development program
    re/ training plan. I've been doing the second 'geezer' intermediate plan from the Programming book, and it's going swimmingly. I'm looking forward to the new book this fall that focuses on older lifters.
