Hi Jerry, it looks like you do 3 working sets on most of your lifts. Do you make much progress on that without burning out? The standard SS program does 3 working sets across, but it's geared for young guys that can recover. I read that you worked out with Dr. Ken. I bet he has some stories that go back 50 years. I read some of his stuff on the Internet. I liked the one where they drove to York in a snow storm to pick up a power rack one time.

Hi John, in 1994 I had moved to LI close to Dr.Kens Iron Island Gym. I had been following his programs from his newsletter The Steel Tip for many years before that. My son and I joined his gym and trained there until he sold it. My son continued to train at his home based gym. Here is a link to the Titan Suport Systems website Dr. Ken writes monthly articles on it.
Dr Ken Leistner - Titan Support Systems Inc
As for my training, I had been doing something different then what is advised here on SS , from Nov to the end of the year. I bought the new book and have been doing something similar, one of the posters Best after 60 sent me his program and loosely following that. Good luck with your training.
I do like working up to a heavy(at least for me) set and do one or two back off sets, and will probably go back t that way soon.

Ok Jerry, thanks for the link. Dr Ken was into HIT if I recall rather than sets across. But it worked for him. The key is working hard and sticking to a program that makes sense. Most of my time is spent warming up.
