I usually find the first set heavy, the second set easier
I often find the same thing. Most often with squats and benches.
How do you like the safety squat bar?

Trap Bar deadlifts are a great exercise, I would stop worrying about what "SS" thinks and get strong.
    Agree with this!

I like the bar. Only used it twice so far, and about thirty lbs less weight . No shoulder pain at all.

    Today was DL day
Warmed up then did 235 x5 did two sets and felt a tweak on rep 3 of third set. So I decided not to do,the press. Did one arm DB floor presses 40 x 12 two sets and then pill downs 127.5 8 x 2 then took 4 Motrin and iced my back.

I sometimes think it it were a perfect world, every lifter over fifty would be given a lifetime supply of free Ibuprofen.

About first set heavy: I do Starr, so that's not my issue. But my second set always feels lighter than my first, even though it's always heavier. I just assumed it was the warmup effect.

Felling a little better this morning. Iced my back took some Motrin, rubbed in some tiger balm and wearing an elastic wrap around my waist . Going to,do,some clean up in my gargage and try to keep moving. This for sure is nothing new to me, back issues were common in my line of work. I will BP and do pull downs on Thursday and do some high rep back exercises to get blood flowing . I will wait till Monday and do some light weight squats and take it from there.

Jerry, re: Tiger Balm. I used to use the stuff, but I switched to pure emu oil. It works better as a pain killer, and doesn't stink the place out. You can slather it on and go out in public without people wrinkling their nose in your vicinity. Just make sure you buy pure emu oil, not "emu ointment" or somesuch.

Good to know. I will look for it in the health food store. I see it advertised on TV. I sort of like the smell of tiger balm. When I would get a headache I would rub some in my temples, seemed to help.

Hey Jerry, I used tiger balm last night and it worked great on my hip. Thanks for the suggestion. I might look into that other stuff mentioned in this thread if the smell is to much for my wife, but so far so good.
