Default Paul's log - Staying strong past 50

I decided to start a new thread today, since I'm now 50 and starting a new program.
Here's my stats if anyone cares to know:

    Age: 50 (gulp)
    Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 230 lbs (this is up from low 220s early this year. Luckily, I still fit in the same pants without trouble, so I'm probably putting the weight in the right places).
    Squat (SSB w/belt - 440)
    Bench -327.5
Don't know my max DL and press presently.

I'm starting an old but proven program: Andy Baker's Garage Gym warrior. Starting at week 4 and will progress from there.
My 16 yo son is also running this program and is liking it very much thus far.

    Today:
    SSB w/belt - 335 x 6r x 4s
    Bench - 235 x 6r x 3s
    DL w/belt - 340 x 6r x 3s

    Everything felt pretty good...

    Press w/belt - 150 x 6r x 4s
    Rows w/belt and straps - 235 x 8r x 4s

    Everything moved well.

    Medium SSB squat - beltless - 315 x 6 x 3
    Heavy Bench - 250 x 6 x 4
    Heavy DL w/belt and straps- 395 x 6, backoff to 365 x 6

Don't know what I did, but my ankle just started to hurt like hell Wed night and yesterday. This morning it was slightly better, but much better after 3 Advils. Good enough to allow me to train.
Tomorrow, I'll do some medium presses and maybe some close-grip bench to round out the week.

    Supplemental press day:

    Press (beltless) - 140 x 6 x 3
    CGBP - 205 x 6, 215 x 6, 220 x 6, 225 x 6, 230 x 6
    Pullups (using straps) - BW x 7 x 5

Wasn't sure what my CGBP weight should be, so just kept adding weight.
Cardio planned today: Leaf cleanup - all day. I hate cleaning up leaves.

    Heavy squat day:

    SSB w/belt - 360 x 5r x 4s
    Bench - 250 x 5r x 3s
    DL w/belt - 365 x 5r x 3s

Everything was fine, just a good, solid workout.

    SSB Squat (beltless, paused) - 315 x 5 x 2
    Press w/belt = 160 x 5 x 4
    Rows w/belt and straps - 255 x 6 x 4

Everything went well. A little groin pain on my right side. I just dealt with similar pain on my left side for several months. It "moved" to the other side, I guess.

    SSB Squat (beltless) - 335 x 5 x 3
    Bench - 265 x 5 x 4
    DL w/belt - 420 x 5, 405 x 3 x 2

I don't know why exactly, but everything moved very well today. Maybe because using the GGW template, I'm getting adequate recovery. Or, it could be that I took some ibuprofen for my ankle, which made everything feel better. In any case, I felt really good today.
