Jerry, thanks for the compliment on my squats, but they are only done from twelve inches below lockout, closer to a half squat. Even so, after squatting 430 in my late-40s, these feel like a ton! I just gotta remember, I am 65 now, so I guess pretty good, considering.

I know many people look down on what they call quarter or half squatters, but Brooks Kubik has a program based on partials where he recommends partials from the pins at different settings .

Hey Jerry, hope you are staying well and secluded. I have read a lot of Brooks Kubik material over the years, and know how fond he is of dead-stop squats, but it was a training article on 70s powerlifting great Walter Thomas that convinced me to give them a try. Thomas was still lifting huge weights into his mid-50s, but he said he didn´t go over 400 pounds for full squats in training at that time, yet he was still capable of a 700+ squat then. He attributed it to the heavy partials he did once a week - 4-5 sets of 400 with up to 1000 lbs!

I really believe that these heavy partials have especially strengthened my tendons and ligaments...and they certainly make my regulation squats feel lighter. I started the partials in early December, working up to just 285, and it was not easy. Yet here I am, four months later using 375, and still progressing consistently. Hopefully, this will transfer over to my competition squat well. My first meet this year (if this crisis subsides) should now be the Nationals in July, to be held in Rochester, NY. As things stand now, I feel I should be good for minimum lifts of 330 SQ, 230 BP, and 400 DL by then. Stay tuned, and take care!

I upped the weight on the press 2˝
lbs, I thought I would get 3 reps, not happening today. Maybe I should have micro loaded. I'll try it again next time, if it doesn't go I'll drop back to 90.

Your doing fine. For me Micro loading works fine for press, and I think 2or 3 backoffs also helps as an ace in the sleve. We oldies need to be smart, not to much and not to little, its a thin line to walk.

235/5 I got 3 last WO and was going to try for 4. I felt like I could get another rep. so I went for it, glad I did.
I planned to do pulldowns but decided to cut the WO short.
