Well gang, I seem to be on quite a roll leading up to my meet in September. Another great workout this morning, though my beat-up knees protested mightily after the squats! Still, a couple (current) PR's to show for it.

Big news on today's workout gang! I was never a big bencher (or OHP'er for that matter), but today I actually set a LIFETIME PR! I switched back to CGBP for a bit, done with my 56 lb, 2 1/2" fat bar and a 14" grip. My previous PR (lifetime) was 190x1. Today I got a very solid 201x1...it made all the hard work this year seem very worthwhile!

Nice work Fifty.
I made a error in judgment in my training today, and with 52+ years of training behind me, I should certainly know better. The fact is, I'm kind of anxious to total 900+ this year, cause I'm not sure I have many (any?) left in me. So, I tried a different BP routine today, in hopes of upping my BP a little more at the meet next month. Not a good idea with the meet so close, a fact I realized pretty quick. So, next week, it's back to what's been working pretty well for me so far. I did cut my squat back a little today, after straining a knee slightly eight days ago. It's still a little sore, but squats went well.

I'm in Burlington, VT, visiting a friend I'm trying to help, so I worked out at a local crossfit-type gym. It's a decent gym with three power racks (only two worth using), and way too many machines. they're packed so tight, it's hard to avoid bumping into one occasionally. The workout went pretty well, though I had to change one or two things. My deadlifts are progressing nicely, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my meet will come off as scheduled (Sept. 12, in Rochester, NY).

Latest update on my meet - Foiled Again! Two days ago, while checking the status of my meet, the organizers said that ALL NYS meets have been cancelled for 2020. Now there's only one possibility left before the World's in November...the Ohio State meet on October 18. Ohio's last meet went off without a hitch, so this should work for me, and I can still go for NYS records, as well as National. Now I'm working on adjusting my cycle again. I did have a really good workout at the local gym today (Burlington, VT).
