    I had an interesting experience in the gym this morning. It was very hot and humid, and I was finishing up my squats. My lady friend was with me, and as it is, she feels I work way too hard at my age! I was on my last set with 230, aiming for six reps, and drenched in sweat. From my second rep on, I could hear her saying something after I finished each rep. At first I thought she was encouraging me, and maybe saying "You got it John!" Afterwards I found out she was just trying to get me to stop, saying "JOHN!!" Suffice it to say she was not happy with me! Anyway, I think I'm ready to cut the heavy reps back a bit!😉

    I'm taking my first unscheduled layoff from training in what seems like ages. I came down with what seems like a bad cold. Stuffy head, congestion, sore throat and cough, and a wicked headache. It came on Thursday after my last workout, so I've decided to layoff till next Sunday, the 23rd. I'm hoping it will do me a lot of good, and I'll be sure to start back slow.

    You've been super consistent anddeserve a break - may do your joints good (look at the positives!).

    I know a summer cold can hit hard. A little break never hurts.

    My first workout back after 10 day layoff...done while visiting my mom. I lost a few pounds, usually do after time away from the weights.

    I had to do my workout over the last two days...got a new dog on Saturday from a shelter north of Stowe, and he's kept us busy since then. Here's the workout in total;

    I had to see the chiropractor again on Wednesday, and was pretty sore yesterday, so waited another day to workout. Today was the first day of my 12-week cycle for the meet in October.

    Note: I'm trying something different with my squat and bench press, that I found in a couple old articles about Bill Seno. The guy was a beast way back in the day; bodybuilder, Olympic/Powerlifter, world record holder in the bench press, and beat Sergio Oliva for most muscular in the Mr America contest.
