I agree with both you and Jerry, I've dealt with this most of my adult life. I'm trying to get a better handle on things, and I'm feeling much better today (actually most of this week), and I'll be hitting today's workout shortly. I expect all to go well!

Just finished my workout, and it went pretty well, I'm happy with it. My bodyweight is still stuck at 190, but I'm not really worried about that. This NY weather is just beginning to warm up a little, and I've been busy moving, so that probably accounts for the slight weight loss.

I had a pretty good workout today, and my back still seems to be improving. My last set of benches was tough though, I may have to start micro-loading again soon. The bench has always been my "Achilles Heel"! Actually, any kind of pressing, I've always been more comfortable squatting and pulling. Coming from a Olympic lifting background, I always worked my pulls and squats hard. I also worked my jerk and did push presses, but the press had already been taken out when I started competing, so I didn't pay enough attention to it. My BIG mistake! Still, I managed to snatch 215 and c&j 270 as a tall, skinny 165 lber. Not great, but passable locally in those days(mid-'70s).

I'm in North Carolina tonight, visiting my youngest sister's family with my mom. My back is hurting again after the long hours on the road, and having to put up with some horrendous traffic yesterday. I never did get around to logging Thursday's workout, too busy getting things taken care of at home and packing for the trip. I lost a couple more pounds on top of all that...first time back down in the one-eighty's in a few years. Decent workout, except for my presses, of course!

We spent Friday night in Fredericksburg, then finished the trip yesterday. I've been recovering since we got here, and my back is feeling much better now, so I should be working out in the morning. I expect I might do better with other people around, it gets to be a drag working out all alone.

I worked out this morning at this nice clean fitness center about a mile from my sister's house in NC. When I saw how clean the place was, I figured they didn't allow chalk use, but I asked anyway...NO GO! I really didn't need it for today's workout, but Thursday I'll have to deadlift without it, luckily I've always used the hook grip and never had a problem. I hit all my planned weights for the day, even upped my squat max set a little(thanks to the nice-looking young lady next to me doing reverse lunges, it was that ego thing, ya know). I had the lone power rack all to myself, no surprise there. Most of the patrons appeared to be middle-aged men, some women possibly near forty, and just a very few younger or older than that age range.
While I was squatting, there was one gentleman nearby, right around my age, using a hack squat machine. I had to watch a little(and shake my head) as he worked up to probably 450 pounds or more. Trouble was, his range of motion was no more than 2-3 inches at the top, but he got plenty of compliments from his friends. I will never miss working out in commercial gyms, with what I've seen during my brief forays in them.
    SQ: 195 x 5, 220 x 3, 255 x 1+(did 6 good reps)
Lev. row: 110 x 8, 135 x 8, 150 x 4(almost strained my back on that set, the device I used was poorly-designed, not nearly as good as the one I made at home)
    BP: 135 x 5, 155 x 3, 175 x 1+(5 good reps)
    E-Z curl: 80 x 6, 110 x 5
When I did my benches, I had to ask for a lift-off and spot on my last set, as there was no way to bench in the power rack at this gym. I explained very carefully to the gentleman I asked, exactly what to do and what not to do. Thankfully, he did a very good job.

I took my last workout in NC this morning, and it went pretty well. Can't complain about much, except my nagging low back, but I'll deal with it as usual. We plan on leaving tomorrow, and stopping in Chesapeake, VA for a day to visit another aunt and uncle. Next week will be my de-load week so I can recover(and get back on my normal diet).

Monday was a de-load workout following the trip to NC. No problems, but I suddenly have a lot to do...my girl's son has decided to sell the house, so I need to get out soon. Most everything has been moved, but I'm having trouble finding help to move the last few heavy, awkward things. Everyone seems to be too busy, go figure!
