A great workout this morning, though tough...I pushed my BP's and SQ's hard, also got a PR single in the dip.

I took my last DL workout this morning, before my meet next weekend, and it went very well. I feel like I have a good shot at 380 (or more) next week. I tweaked my bad shoulder earlier this week, but it seems to be coming around well. Just one heavy workout left, next Tuesday's SQ/BP workout. I may work up to a heavy double on the SQ, and probably just a couple singles in the BP. My planned starting attempts for the meet next weekend are; 265 SQ, 200 BP, and 330 DL. These are all NYS and National records for the 65-69, 198 lb class, raw division in the WNPFPL.

DONE!!! Finished my last (heavy) workout before the Ohio State meet this Sunday, and everything went well. I'm feeling pretty good going into my first meet in five years, though I would have liked to get that third rep in the BP this morning with 203! I will probably do my complexes and grip work (carefully) on Thursday, then it's just getting organized and the trip to Ohio on Saturday. I'll let you all know how it went on Sunday evening.

    DB swing: 40x18
    BP: 125x5, 150x3, 180x1, 203x2 (just missed the third), 188x4 wide-grip with pause, 176x5 T&G narrow grip
    Face pull: 62.5 x 8, 7, 7
    SQ: 155x5, 185x3, 215x1, 245x1, 280 - solid single with good depth
    Leg press b/o: 240x10x2
    BB row: 115x5, 135x3, 160x5
Note: as an illustration of how the BB complexes have aided my conditioning, my blood pressure this morning, pre-workout was 110/60 with a pulse of 48, and I take no meds.

I just got back home from the meet, and I'm gonna be feelin' it for at least a couple days. I had hoped to get a 900 total, but wasn't quite up to it. Tweaking my shoulder a couple weeks ago affected my BP and my DL wasn't there yet. On the other hand, I did have a good day in the SQ, and finished with a good 300 lbs, but it was limit! Still, 20 lbs more than I've done all year. I made my first two BP's with 195 and 210, but couldn't finish 215. In the DL, I also made only the first two, with 330 and 360, and could only get 380 halfway. The big consolation was that every attempt I made broke the old NYS records in every lift. The meet results will probably be up next week on wnpfpl.com. It was the Ohio State meet on Oct. 18. I'm taking this week off, seeing my chiro (much needed), and may change things up when I ease back in next week. My first meet in five years, and the nerves really kicked in, but I'm looking forward to the next one!

I've decided to go "old-school" till the end of the year as a change of pace. If there is another meet in my future, it won't be before March of next year, so that gives me time to prepare. I'm pretty well recovered from the meet last week, and my workout this morning was based on one of Bradley Steiner's old routines. You younger folk who aren't familiar with him should check out his work, a lot of good info there. I dropped my weights back and enjoyed the workout, though it definitely wasn't easy.
