Today was a tough, but satisfying workout overall. I switched up my squats a little, doing six sets of three reps after a warmup set of five with 135. My bench press also seems to be showing a little progress (finally), but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The NYS meet is just 8 weeks away now, and I'm feeling pretty well on-track at this point. I'm expecting to go comfortably (maybe the wrong word) over 900 total and break all of my State Records.

A cold night last night, and the temp. in the garage barely broke 50, but I had a pretty good workout. Afterwards, I noticed that I'd somehow bruised the palm of my hand, most likely from my heavy set of rack pulls today.

Today was one of those rare (especially at my age) days when everything just seemed to click. The weights I'm hitting lately are a little more intimidating than they were years ago, but fortunately I've always been good at motivating myself, even though most of my training is done alone.

It's great when everything goes as planned. We gpt slammed with snow yesterday here. I'm glad I worked out Friday. I didn't do anything yesterday, but got in some good cardio today clearing up the mess.

It's snowing steady here, we're expecting 12"+ overnight. I had to cut my workout short this morning, after pushing my halting DL to the limit, it just did me in! I was planning on finishing up with dips and chins...maybe tomorrow with my grip work.

The temp was below 0 here overnight, took me awhile to warm up the garage this morning. Six weeks to go and it's getting serious now, working on staying focused with my lifts, but another good day.

Hey Fifty, you commented on my benches a while back but I must say that you are a lot closer to my benches than I am to your squats. How do you plan to not peak too soon before the meet it being eight weeks away?

MY lifts continue to creep up, and I'm feeling very good. On my rack pulls today, I only used my belt for the last set with 365. I have straps, but so far have never needed to use them. I've always used a hook grip for my deadlifting (double overhand), and never had a problem with the grip.
