I decided to do my workout a day early, since we're expecting some heavy snow this evening. I had to make two trips to the Y in Burlington to get it done, when I first got there, it was the busiest I've seen it. I went back around 11 am, and managed to snag a platform.

I guess others had the same idea about the snow. Nice work.

The same thought crossed my mind Jerry, but at least I was able to get it done. Now I'm thinking seriously of simplifying my training more, before my next meet.

Good luck 50. Sometimes less is best. From what I've been told and read it's tough to put on any muscle at our age, especially if you don't want to gain weight. But you can get stronger with the right amount of work. I'm still trying to find what it is myself.

Back in November, if you recall, I went to the World Record Breaker's meet (to watch only). What I didn't mention, was that I lost ALL my records that day, State and National. Another guy my age, who has been competing a long time, dropped down to 198 from 220 and crushed my marks. He squatted 400, benched 280, and deadlifted 430. He already had all the records in the 220's, raw and raw classic, in two different age divisions (60-64 & 65-69). I'm still planning to compete at least once this year, but I realize most (if not all) of the marks he set, are out of my reach. I'll still try to move my own lifts up a bit over the next few months, but after that, I just don't know. The grind gets tougher all the time. What do you all think?

I had a pretty solid workout at the Burlington Y this morning, despite the fact my bad hip and low back were a bit outta whack. Because of this, I decided to forgo pushing the reps on squats, and just did a couple heavier singles. My BP continues to progress on the routine I'm doing, so I'm happy about that.

Thinking about it now that we are older one ends up working around things hurting or low energy. When younger it was not enough sleep, time or having a hangover. Good work moving the lifts forward while hurting.

I wasn't sure I'd get this workout in today. The Y was too busy when I first arrived. I tried the other gym I use, but all the power racks were busy. I think everyone was trying to squeeze their workouts in before the cold snap coming tomorrow. Wind chill warnings from -30 to -45, from 1 am tomorrow through Saturday afternoon. I went back to the Y, found a free rack, and got it done, but I've been paying for it. I pushed everything hard (as usual), and my low back, hips and SI joint have been hurting most of the day. It's eased up now after rolling it out.
