I've been out of commission since that last workout at the gym two weeks ago. My friend and I both ended up with a nasty virus after that workout. I ended up going to Urgent Care two days later to get checked out. The doctor said it could be the flu or COVID, and she told me a lot of people got hit harder than I did. My vitals were normal and my lungs were clear, I just had a low grade fever and felt like crap. I didn't eat much of anything for the next few days, but tried to make sure I was drinking enough to stay hydrated. I ended up losing about eight pounds. Today I felt well enough to try working out, but my strength and conditioning had really dropped off. Did what I could manage, then called it quits, things should pickup over the next few workouts.

Things haven't gone my way this year. Following the respiratory bug I had, and the single workout I managed a few weeks ago, it's kinda been downhill from there. Two days ago I had to have some dental work done, and I need to get a couple implants, which will take a few months overall. Then I have my cataract surgery coming up the first week of April, which will limit my training further. I had planned to get my training going tomorrow, but had a nasty accident today. While walking my dog this morning, I slipped on a patch of ice covered by snow, and fell hard on my right shoulder. I went to urgent care and got X-rays, showing a lot of wear and tear of the joint, but no further damage. I still have to wait for the radiologist to read them, in the meantime they prescribed a muscle relaxant and put a referral in for physical therapy. I guess my training is still on hold for the time being. As it is, I can't even raise my arm to shoulder level without intense pain. Just hope I can get things turned around by Spring.

I hate it for you and I can relate to having different aliments. I hope you heal up soon but it sounds like you will have a good period of convalescence. I think everyone up your way will be glad for spring.

Hey guys, I saw the orthopedic surgeon this morning and got the news...I have a torn rotator cuff. It's definitely not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is, and I'll have to do my part to resolve it. I still have to get a MRI to see just how bad it is, but the doctor wants me to start physical therapy ASAP. Depending on how that goes, will factor into whether I have surgery or not. He did say that surgery doesn't always work out well on "old" tendons. I can assure you guys, that I'm gonna do my best to rehab it as best I can with the PT. If I have to set my heavy lifting aside, so be it. I'm already working on contingency plans. I'll keep you all updated as this progresses, and thanks for the support!

My MRI is scheduled for Wednesday night at 7 pm, but in the meantime I suffered another unexpected setback. I was woken up Friday morning about 2 am by pretty severe stomach pain. I finally had to call 911 and take the ambulance to the hospital. The pain gradually increased and spread to my low back. Turned out to be kidney stones, which I've had three previous times in my life. I was in the ER for about seven hours before they finally got the pain to a manageable level. I'm presently taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen, with morphine available if necessary. I'm waiting for urology to call for a follow-up. On a brighter note, my rotator tear is responding quickly to the rehab program I'm following, and I feel pretty confident of a full recovery.

I have never had kidney stones but know from others that it's not a pleasant situation.

Good news on your shoulder. I'm glad it's improving for you.

I've had 5 or 6 major kidney stone attacks. My last one started with pain in my lower left abdominals and then it moved
into the left kidney area. I just rode it out at home and and dealt with the pain. I drank out lot of water and lemon juice
and walked around in the house for over 24 hours before it was finally over. The pain is severe, but there's no way I will
ring up a big medical bill over it. I drink at least 1 oz of lemon juice in water every morning for a preventative against
the Uric Acid. They can still happen though. The first time I had one I didnt know what it was, so I ended up at the ER,
but all the others I knew what the deal was and just rode them out at home. It's usually over 24 hours of nasty pain
before the stone(s) pass. Walking around helps them pass. Lying in a bed is a big no way for me. Good Luck!
