How's recovery going Lou?
How's recovery going Lou?
hey man, thanks for checking in.
I'm a little over 4 weeks out from surgery and seem to be doing pretty well. hard to tell really since I'm in a sling and don't start PT until the week after Thanksgiving.
Last week I managed to get to the gym 4x's.
I did leg press, leg ext, leg curls, seated calf raise, abs and some cardio using arch trainer. I have to train with the sling on, but so what.
today I did:
leg press
2 plates x 30 (1 ea side)
4 plates x 20 (2 ea side)
6 plates x 20
8 plates x 20
8 plates + (2) 25's x 20
leg ext
50 x 20
60 x 20
70 x 20
80 x 10
leg curls
30 x 20
40 x 20
50 x 12
60 x 12
70 x 12
leg press machine calf
4 plates x 20 x 3
V bench situps x 25, 20, 15
tomorrow I'l get some cardio in.
my weight is down to 148.5. waist 32.5
great stuff, plus i'm sure the sling is a chick magnet
How goes it? I hope you are recovering nicely.
Hey SloMo, thanks for reaching out. has been a while since I logged in.
I started physical therapy a few weeks ago. slow going as all I can do right now is assisted stretching.
I'm not allowed to move my arm voluntarily as it will engage the affected area muscle. The pain level through PT has been at times, very painful. I'm told it is normal as the muscles and tendons are getting stretched and the muscle is getting some work.
I'm trying to be patient and do the right thing by not rushing things.
I can tell I lost some upper body bulk or definition, but the hell.....
I've been training for about 6 weeks....LEGS, LEGS, LEGS.
I'm grateful to be able to at least be doing something.
my training week is arranged as follows:
day #1 heavy legs
day #2 40 minutes cardio
day #3 HiTT 20 minutes
Day #4 Light legs
Day #5 30 minutes cardio
day #6 rest
Day #7 Heavy legs
I've been using:
leg press
hack squat machine
leg curls
leg ext
Split squat machine
calf raises
my BW is @ 149, down from 167 in July. Waist is @ 32.5"
I don't expect to be able to do any upper body work or BB squat for another 3 to 6 months.
I thought I might be able to be in a position to compete in 2017 USAPL nationals, but not likely. On a good note, I've been coaching and have a lifter who won the NJ State and qualified for 2017 Arnold's in Ohio. So I'm pumped about the opportunity to get a lifter to this event and meet the big names in the sport.
I haven't logged my training because its pretty mundane.
I've been following you guys, good to see most of you working hard.
Nice to see the update. Maybe I will see you at the Arnold. Planning to check it out next year.
thanks,
I think i'll start a new log since this one is old. I'll be creative and call it, 'Lou's Post Shoulder Surgery Log'
