Heavy DL: 305x4. 4" belt instead of 3". Wanted 5, but didn't attempt a fifth, due to feeling out of gas. Noticed a slight tweak in my lower back a few minutes later, so rep 4 may have gotten a bit squirrely.

I've been concerned that always pressing before bench makes my bench suffer. I decided to just start with a Press triple, then move to my Bench triple, them go back to Press (backoffs), then go back to Bench (backoff), then add in CGBP.

I feel the same way about the Press, though it's not in my programming much these days.

How are your shoulders? I feel like it's impossible to get to my age without some wear and tear on all joints. Still, I believe we're better off Pressing until we can't.

At the moment, my shoulders are in pretty good shape (knock wood). Benching and Pressing don't really bother them. Golf: no issues. Squash: no issues. Throwing a football/baseball: ISSUES!

Wear and tear is unavoidable, I just pick my battles.

I don't disagree about keeping on with the Pressing...I just have a really hard time with it due to the outlandishly long arms that I have. And since I'm not competing in the USSF, I don't focus on training the movement.

Today I felt like my gym told me, "You gon' learn today". The lesson: you don't have to be attached to your training rituals.

Although there are 10 or more Rogue power racks with their own wooden and mat platforms, they were all being used. There was an open freestanding squat stand, on the mat floor, so I used that, which I've never done before, for squat. I attached some spotter arms to it. I didn't do my usual dead hang to stretch my shoulders beforehand. And you know what? It was fine. By the time I was done squatting, a platform was free for me to do my light deadlift, with a big-ass shop fan pointing right at me.
