    Nice work at the meet.

Going back to do "the program" is a good idea.

As to the "ego" issue, boy do I understand that perspective. I somehow, finally found a way to focus on my results as a function of the work I put in - did I leave it all on the floor during training, did I commit fully during the meet.

As I'm the weakest person in my gym, I stopped measuring myself against the other folks soon after I joined. For this first meet I was competing against myself.

Next time, well that's a different kettle of fish.

Oh and Press 2.0...just can't get the hang of it.

Thanks. The Barbell Prescription describes reverting to an LP after a layoff as an inevitable result of things like travel, medical procedures, etc. I just decided to do it on purpose.

I'm glad I went for broke for my third deadlift at the meet, even though I missed. But I probably left a few kilos on the platform with squat. I resolve to learn how to GRIND during SQ during this LP.

That's one reason I'm glad I joined a good black iron gym: for perspective on where my modest strength levels are really at. I wasn't getting that squatting 225 in my garage. At the risk of sounding sexist, I know I will find women in the results who out lifted me, as well as older men who did, too.

Woke up at 0330 to get to the gym when it opened at 0530. Hopefully my sleep pattern will reset such that this change from my normal 0630 wake up time won't eat into my precious old man recovery. I didn't have time to do Press at the gym because traffic wouldn't allow me to get home in time for work if I did.

SQ: 190x5x3. Started wearing my belt.

DL: 245x5. Will make one more 20 pound jump and start hook gripping the workset. Still no need to belt yet.

Woke up at 0340 to get to the gym when it opened at 0530. I slept a little more restfully than I did the last time I did this. As a result, training was slightly less...painful. If many other members train at 0530 sharp, they may be on a MWF program, because it's not too crowded when I've gone Tu/Th.

Still, I didn't have time to do Bench Press at the gym because traffic wouldn't allow me to get home in time for work if I did.

I am now alternating DL's and chins and the latter was on the program today. I figured I could do them at home, after Press, after work. But a non-fastidious contractor did not show up at my house as promised, and I had a rare evening appointment, so I will do these tomorrow. After that, I'll plan on training Sunday instead of Saturday.
