Today was my first training at the gym (instead of the garage) in over 3 weeks. It was also my first time training with a mask on. For me, it's not so much being able to breathe in enough air, in my disposable paper mask. It's exhaling that never disperses, like someone aiming a blow dryer at your mouth and nose. My only relief was that was taking it off briefly for sips of water and Gatorade. But I realized I could take my time eating a roll of Smarties, too.
Be right back...I'm going to Google, "What happens when you breathe into a paper bag?"

Do you all hook grip your deadlifts? If so, so you tape your thumbs?
If so, I'd be curious what brand of athletic tape you use. I ask because instead of buying a refill roll myself, I asked my wife to. She brought back Target brand. It occurred to me that it comes off easier than more "first line" brands, such as Johnson & Johnson. There's been times I went to take it off and I thought my thumbnails would come off with it. It struck me how much easier Target brand comes off. But today, it slipped off during the last few reps of my workset...

I think I had hypoglycemia. If you've ever had it before, you know some symptoms might be sweatiness along with weakness and lack of energy, which was hard to differentiate from my normal state training in my uncooled garage in a summer afternoon in the Atlanta suburbs. I chalk it up to running out of protein powder, so minus that, my pre-workout snack was mostly carbs (maltodextrin, Ezekiel bread) and caffeine (cold coffee) 90 minutes before. But a sip of Gatorade and a roll of Smarties before my workset got me right.
