I think your coaches are correct, benches drive your press, not the opposite. Although in my experience, triceps (close grip) will drive benches. My CG has always preceded any gains in benches (back when I benched). Nice on the huge PR!

Your husband sounds like me back when I was logging. So much fighting through brush, setting chokers around logs 10' in diameter, on and off equipment all day, combined with lifting and carrying coils of haywire and dragging line, was more than enough to keep me in good shape. Fantastic shape, to be honest. But almost all of us as humans are relatively weak and could do better in life with more overall strength.

Squat Light Triples 155#/3 (5) pretty easy.
DEADLIFT HEAVY 3's 225#/3 (3) Surprised myself. Hard but doable? Still a kato/clousseau type relationship w/deads; they're trying to kill me! Hook grip, people say it hurts. ? Maybe I don't lift heavy enough for thumb pain, but the rest of my body is under such duress during deads that hookgrip is the last thing on my mind, in terms of stress/pain. Doesn't everyone have callouses on their thumb joints??? I do.

Thank you. Its hard to accept there's nothing I can do. Maybe its my asterisk* talking.
Did I DO that? I guess so; a year ago I had trouble w/70, 75. I know that third rep was, damn, heavy! From hang power cleans. Wonder if I'll ever be able to rep that weight....

OHP HEAVY 5's 84#/5 (3) PR, did 83# last time.
I owe the last rep to a Skid ? in the elderly forum press thread, whoever that is. I couldn't hold my breath all the way through, rested in the bottom, valsalva and did 2.0 and it was easy. Laughed out loud, after months I finally did 2.0. WOOT! Hope for old folks.
    CGBP 105#/6, 100#/8 (2)
I wasn't getting 105# today, whats up with that? My arms/tris have been pretty sore, I'm having trouble pushing my shoulder blades down/holding my arch & tightness, and I'm sliding on the bench even though I'm using my legs. Massage/chiro tonite, will see how it is after the rib's in place.

    Triceps, LTE 40#/12 (2), 40#/6, Cable Rope Pulldown 60#/10, 50#/10, 40#/10, 30#/10, 20#/15.
