Frustrating day, dropping things, bumping into things, breaking things, everything I try goes wrong and no patience. Lost my glasses two weeks ago; can't wear outside because I lose them, can't see what the fuck I'm doing without them. Middle age, yes the alternative is worse but some days its like a bad joke. I'm really not getting much stronger; and Bob Eubanks says I have a 25% chance of taking a crippling fall! I did find the right strength readers at the store later. IDK WHAT I looked at, supposed to squat 1@8, 5@8, 5@9, all I saw was 5@9 (and that was closer to 9.5). Press went ok outside, didn't take my hands off bar but had to put it down after rep 3 at 80 bc the tiny strip of decking I'm lifting on I was right up against the bbq - recleaned and pressed. Probably shouldn't count it, fuck it. Couldn't finish floor press because my covid19 rack, I'd need a liftoff. fuck that too. ugh

    Squat 175x5 @9
    Press 85x1 @8 77x4 @8 80x3+1 @9
Floor Press 88x8 @7 no liftoff

I sometimes wonder the same thing. But as we get older it can't be looked at this way. Look at it over longer time periods. When I look back a year I can see that all of my lifts are trending upward. If looked at in the short term it can be discouraging. It seems like my lifting is 10 steps forward 9 steps back. Just when things are going great something happens to set me back. The recent setback was the quarantine. It will still take a couple more weeks to be at the same level as before. That's about 1.5 months of lost potential progress, discouraging but not training is not an option!

Keep at it or turn to mush!

You are spot on Ken. I look at it like I'm slowing the inevitable regression.

Because I was supposed to do 4s for comp bench, did five by accident. Probably could have gone higher - sleep, stress and whatnot.
I'm going to do an about-face with a hypertrophy block next week; it'll all be different. I hope I can do it, but I'm thinking it'll probably be ok.

5_15_2020 Friday Digging shoveling mulch etc 5 hours. Counting it as cardio. Another huge benefit of training is recovery; I can shovel carry spread idk how many wheelbarrows, need a rest, get back to it in 3 minutes. I like it.
