    Ok - bags of rocks Sunday, whole new ballgame. Yesterday a mom with a teenager, teenager asks, how do you work in the sun?!! 93°, 103° heat index, ugh, its like a wet t-shirt contest all day long.
    No problems doing the job, but certain to affect training; my legs were BURNING like crazy Sunday night, DEFINITELY not recovered.

    And this day was not a good one, another major life stress (every time things start to settle SOMETHING happens). I'm going to try to finish this cycle as I only have 32 days left - so I trained. Then will have to figure something out, possibly 4 days.

    175 (no focus at all, unracked, started down - noticed my one shoe was completely undone & loose, wth? caught the bounce, halfway up see the trainer walking directly toward me in the mirror and set it on the pins. Thought I'd probably get two fairly easily, probably not 3 with the hip/back - so that was a FAIL. Instead did a perfect double with 165 and left it at that)

    Hi Deb,

    I just want to say that I really enjoy reading your log - one of only two that I follow -- yours for wit and inspiration and the other one because I can't believe the self-centered hubris of the lifter. I admire your perseverance, especially with the olympic lifts. I compete in masters powerlifting and know how hard it is for gals our age (I'm 64) to keep at it! Don't give up. I use competition as my motivator and as long as I am getting PRs I will continue.

    Oh my, thanks for stopping by and thanks for the encouragement!! No women my age at my gym are training like us! There are plenty of men my age and older, and plenty of young people. It's, well, to always be the only one in the free weight area... square peg. I probably will never compete, I don't think I'll ever be strong enough, so kudos, that's very impressive!

    So the new job; I made it through the heat etc. again yesterday; I slept great last night, but still was more tired today than I've been in a loooooong time.
    I'm maybe noticing a pattern in scheduling - longer block of shifts, followed by days off (I have 4 days off starting today)..and then a week w just a couple shifts....and then a bunch of shifts again - so as not to wear you completely out? I still don't mind it; learning a lot of things its all new. Cycle counts! (go thru store inventory where things SHOULD be to update counts and locations). I'll have to see how it all plays out with the powerbuilding training.

    It's comical, there are men who tell me I can't lift the bags to help them load, one who finally insisted we each take an end because "we'll hurt our backs", one who said, ok you can take it off the cart hand it to me I'll put it in my trunk. I'm getting paid for their work. Then one customer who couldn't pick up a portable ac from floor to cart, so I did it for him - (you're STRONG!) [no, i'm really not]... My one coworker enjoys having me around helping, so that's good. Back issue is still around, I'm icing and took an epsom salt bath before bed last night.

    Anyway so terribly tired today, no caffeine drinks in the gym, last day to max out before deload, I figured this'll be another shit show.

    Todays insanity, talking about heating with propane and oil;
    me: propane is still cheap relative to heating oil, oil is around $5 and its still MIDSUMMER.
    Them: heating oil is only $3! Here is an article of historical heating oil price statistics
    Me: here's the website where I bought the cheapest oil before moving south, it is $5 rn, we pay the COST, not the old stat numbers.
    Them: Heating oil will go way down by fall/winter.
    Me: 43 years I heated with oil, without exception every fall/winter it went way up. We had acquaintances buying diesel at gas stations weekly bc they couldn't afford the minimum delivery purchase last time Obama/Biden were in office; lots of oil burner problems because of sucking up the sludge etc. as well, where my SO repaired their systems and got paid in coffee sometimes!

    I don't understand; they just tell me, that's not what it costs; that is not real. I even Johnny Depp'd them: I WAS THERE. 50° 'heat' to save $.
    I'll wait to see. Maybe I'm the one who is the schizophrenic psycho?

    It's a warm summer, I agree. But what is it with the climate change crazies and Sun-Pussies?

    Florida has landscapers, pool maintenance techs, roofers, linemen, masons, tradesmen, laborers etc.. - all work outside in 95º/100º+ heat index, humidity and sun every day. Including me at 62, slinging rocks, dirt, mulch. Yesterday two of us loaded 36 bags of mulch into a pickup; later another coworker (guy almost my age) asked me help him with bags of dirt because that's how he threw his back out; I was taking it myself, and he insisted no, one on each end...I said, you probably need to squat and deadlift.

    Yes its a little hard, I'm slicked with sweat the whole time clothes stuck to me. I will say I don't mind at all, really enjoying something different, learning new things, love helping customers even though some are cranky. I see some of what appears to be an astounding lack of work ethic, integrity, thoroughness, it's NOT that difficult of tasks, but I've only been there a short time, maybe its me, who am to judge, and that type of thing is ubiquitous nowadays. IDC about what other people say or do, or their gossip, I just want to do my job as well as I can, learn more about plants/flowers everything else they'll let me learn, help people, and go home.

    Schedule 8 PVC, couldn't find it - I know what it is/why, CPVC, PVC, what's a street fitting... but its amazing how little I know about almost everything in general, is it a girl thing? How did I grow up to be sooooo ignorant?

    I passed landscape lighting test 100%, after no training! (my boss said, she doesn't know any of that stuff). Because graphic design - so much advertising for that stuff that I knew all the answers. And, got my first "MUCH better than Home Depot" from a customer. Woot! Its really been an escape from the depressing state of dealing with others' depression.

    SW25 D1 Start of Peaking Block. Its probably not going to go that well, adding that new job to the other two IS fatiguing; pallet of wall stone, guy says he has a truck, we forklift the pallet out there - it is a truck so old the spare tire mount is rusted to the bed, so we had to load 126 blocks (he didn't even take the tailgate down.) I guess that's me being a pussy; same theme at gym, mgrs get in trouble for online reviews "unisex bathroom dirty", and the members get annoyed/Im asking too much to say clean up after yourself, flush & put the seat down. I've never encountered that in NJ gyms, OTOH none of them was unisex. The one guy screamed and cursed at me, he's not a feminist.

    Didn't go that well; the stone: people will buy a pallet of pavers/stone, won't pay $20 to rent a pickup - so its 5 trips back and forth dragging out the forklift w/pallet and loading 140 stones into the SUV.
