Fun getting old ain't it? Still you are very strong. Even ones who train including myself wish we were that strong. I am glad that you are getting over your injury. They say deadlifts take a while to recover from. Myself I am debating dropping down to once a week with deads even though I only do them every forth day now. How often did you train deads when you were first building the lift up?

As you say...."stay strong" and take care of that tweak!

Hope the tweak is not too serious. How are you doing the claw grip shot put lift, just holding die time or lateral/ front raises. I usually do rev curls with the 12 I have.

Thanks for the kind words. Mainly once a week, but I had good success doing this: LIFT-RUN-BANG: Every Other Week Squatting and Deadlifting - By JPS
I believe the stronger you become, the more recovery you need between Squat & Deadlift sessions.
    Good luck with your training!

Thanks. I've had similar tweaks before. I think this happened because I used a mixed grip on the Deads Saturday.
The mixed grip causes a slight twisting. I hold every rep for a certain time with the Shot-puts. I need to reverse curls
    again also.

This is another quote that needs to be stickied to the top of forums.

So many folks really aren't getting this (I didn't until recently), but thankfully we're starting to see some articles on the front page like this week's "Your Back is Never Off the Clock" and "Artificially Weak Deadlifts," both by Robert Santana. Volume and intensity in one will definitely help or hinder the other.

Mend well and keep at it!

Glad to help, Fred. I didn't think about linking those in response to your question about deadlift frequency, as both articles address the issues somewhat obliquely. For me, the money is Santana's comments in the discussion thread on the Artificially Weak Deadlifts. Bottom line, as they get heavier, you need to start thinking about both squats and deadlifts as both complementary and detrimental to each other, where programming for one becomes even more important to the other.
