Monday 7/5/21 - Black Mountain Strength

    Squat: 295x4x4

    Bench: 225x5x5

    Chins: BWx5x10 = 50 reps

Squats did not feel good today. I didn't film but they felt slow too. Could just be a chain reaction to my loading error on Volume Day two weeks ago. Its also possible I may have to wrap up this cycle 1 week earlier than planned. We shall see

Wednesday 7/7/21 - Black Mountain Strength

    Press: 175x3x2, 150x5x2

    175x3 - YouTube

    Deadlift: 430x3

    430x3 - YouTube

Press felt good. DL looks like I'm still dropping my hips at heavier weights but at least my back is flat

Friday 7/9/21 - Black Mountain Strength

    Squat: 345x1

    345x1 - YouTube

    Bench: 255x2

    255x2 - YouTube

Well I've hit the wall earlier than planned. Monday's Squats were super slow and painful despite a reduction in volume. Today everything was slow and hurting too. Only managed a single at 345. Hopefully I can recover enough to manage some good 1RMs within the next couple weeks. The heat is also a factor. 113 today

    7/12/21 - Black Mountain Strength

    Squat: 255x4x3

    Bench: 227.5x5x5

    Chins: BWx5x3

Can't remember the last time a workout was this much of a mental struggle. Just did not want to be there today. Various factors contributing to this and I'm not going to list them all. Hopefully Wednesday will go better

Keep on keeping on, Ryan! I definitely appreciate how it gets tough to keep going sometimes, esp. during these hot and lazy days of summer. FWIW, your squat at 345 looked quite good, and much quicker and easier than it probably felt.

This is "test week" for me - week 15 of a 15-week program. Will be my first time ever actually testing 1RMs. Really only anxious about my squat, but excited to see what numbers I can hit on that and the other lifts!

Of course! And thank you. Definitely off to a good start: 178kg (391.6#) on squat -- a good 25 pounds more than I had ever attempted before. And the bar moved pretty quickly, too, so I then tried for 182kg (~400#), but missed. I chalk that up to a rookie mistake of not waiting quite long enough before attempting. For bench, I hit 315# for first time ever!

    Finished testing today:
*Press = 86kg (189.2#) -- missed attempt at 87kg. Clearly my weakest lift, but much improved from what it used to be.
*DL = 215kg (473#) -- I was surprised how easy this went. 215 was my third attempt after first succeeding at 206 and then 210. 500# is now clearly in my sights!

I give you credit for helpful form feedback in the past. Thank you, Ryan!
