I'm finding out that at my age I should just do what I know I can,I'm too old to "grind" the last rep. Better safe then sorry. Leave one in the chamber as they say.

I’m trying to not burn out, thinking less is more. So it’s the three big lifts for me. I hope they will give me the most payback in overall strength. New PRs is far away, and also they may be unattainable for me. In a way that’s a relief, I don’t have to push for that last rep, it’s better as you say, be sure to make it without misses, which leaves me with a sense of defeat, the ability to make a just assessment on my own strengt by leaving one in the chamber.
And if I fail I have to deload the bar to get up on the hooks again, makes me feel like a looser.

The most bang for the buck. Or do you use the Krona?

I read a post from an older lifter that no longer competed that said he list his current PR's for the year since his lifetime PR's were no longer attainable. You can list your PR's over a certain period which is what I do. It still gives you a goal but does not kill you trying to reach for the past.

It's just another part of getting old and trying to keep a positive attitude towards things.
