Those bars feel weird man. They don't have sleeves, so they don't spin, so they are odd.

They do feel weird, but that weird ness is just fine for stuff like curls. Gives the forearms some extra work. But stuff like clean & press or squats which I see many a gym rat attempt on them is awkward as hell and looks as such.
I curl in the squat rack. curling with an olympic bar is fun. Depending on the gym size, where else are you supposed to curl with an olympic bar? Like they are big and unwieldy. My gym has 3 racks and I'm going to curl in there when I want to. It's rare anyone else squats anyways. More likely to find someone using the rack for bent over rows.
December 12.
Today I witnessed a truly wondrous diversity of curls. There were EZ bar curls, Olympic bar curls laden and unladen, seated curls on the preacher bench and standing curls strict and flailing, and last but not least, mini-wrist curls. This bounty was so beautiful to behold that I was reluctant to depart from the sporting club; I imagine this is how Darwin felt when Captain Fitz Roy told him it was time to say farewell to the Galapagos Islands and embark on The Beagle again to continue their naturalist journey.
My hesitation was rewarded when I noticed two gentlemen, both personal trainers employed by my sporting club, who were taking turns spotting each other on the shoulder press machine.
