Near as I can tell, that's 180 kg (roughly 400 lbs), and The Google says he weighs 94 kg (207 lbs). No idea how many reps he's doing it for, but consider lifting isn't his sport, that's not bad even if it's a single.
Then again, everyone knows the hat and flannel add at least 50 kg, and those denim squat pants have to add a significant amount as well.
Meh, wrists under the bar and knees forward... what an amateur :P
I didn't see anything too crazy in the gym today, but I absolutely smoked myself - Pedestrian squats at 3x5x260, but then benching at 3x5x245 (near PR), then chins at 3x5xbodyweight +30 lbs., and finally five 335 lb. deadlifts. I can barely think straight at this point...
There are a couple nice guys at the gym that are fairly strong by neighborhood gym standards, and they squat deep too. As I was finishing my deads, I noticed that they had loaded the bar with a little more than they normally squat, one of them had 275 on there. I wondered 'hmm, will they go to depth?' and watched them out of the corner of my eye. None of the reps hit parallel. I had a sad. :(
Not bad for an up and coming bobsledder!!!!
Yes, it's like picking up girls: the difference between charming and creepy lies entirely in how attractive the guy is. :D
No but more seriously, a guy with big #s has probably been around and paid his dues. He probably knows what works and what doesn't, plus I suspect n the iron game, after a certain point, you stop giving a shit what you or anyone else look like or do in the gym and just lift. So you evolve from being the UnderArmour douche to making fun of the UnderArmour douche to....uh....whatever is fun for you, I guess.
I am always impressed by the bobsled guys. It seems like most of them can power clean into the high 300's and squat into the 500s at BW around 100kg. There are videos of some of them power snatching too; they're ugly lifts, but the weight gets up to the high 200's. Not bad for guys with no technique training. Actually there's a Canadian bobsledder (bobsleigher? I don't speak Canadian) named Rob Gray who posts videos of the most beautiful lifts you'll ever see from a non lifter, here.
The pants comment was a squat suit joke, and he is indeed a bobsledder.
