LMFAO. Rip should really implement this technique to allow half squatters to reach full depth.

Apparently this was a means of strengthening your neck. You'd start out by doing wrestlers' bridges for time for a while, and when those got easy you'd add weight by holding a barbell in your outstretched arms.

Contrary to what you may think, this is in fact completely retarded.

But how am I supposed to hang onto the bar if it gets too far out in front of me?

Adding insult to injury, it was 1/4 ROM.

Today I saw a new one. A skinny kid, looks like 12 yo, comes to a squat rack, puts a bar on the bar catchers, at the "curl position" (not sure if I call it correctly - hopefully you understand what I mean). I have seen many curlers there, so I don't pay much attention. But then this: after he loads the bar to 35kg, he gets under it in the clumsiest way possible - cannot even describe, think rounded back and basically on all fours. He tries to get the bar at the high bar position and stand up. Which means going on the toes, doing a lunge, taking a knee, leaning left, right, etc. Finally he stands up, then does a set of high bar ATG squats with wobbly knees on his toes. After he finishes, I feel sorry for him (there are not too many squatters at this gym), and advise to him to use the hooks.

Things aren’t pointless just because you’re ignorant of them.
