He's clearly the straightest straight man who ever straighted because only such a man would wash white socks with a red shirt.
I see people do this every now and then. Bros do it so when they bounce the bar off their chest so it doesn't hurt as much. The other case I think is actually legit. Some use it for a very light touch and go. It's like they want to do a 1-board press without fooling with the board.
Saw a lanky guy yesterday alternating between quarter squats with 135 on the bar and something I didn't recognize with dumbells.
In addition to quarter squatting, he was literally doing the thing from Fig. 2-24 (with caption: Don't do this, you fool.) of SSBBT3 (bent wrists, elbows down, neck craned up). Couldn't help but laugh a little.
Bro in the gym talking to a staff member;
"I heard the most important exercises you can do are Squats, Deadlifts & Bench, they cover everything and make you both big and strong"
Staff; "So you going to do squats then" ?
"No, I am shit at squats, and I dont like deadlifts either, I might bench but Ill use dumb bells and stay light, I dont like going heavy"
Staff; "You know you can do squats & deadlifts with dumb bells too, I can show you"
Observed a lengthy chest day; wrist straps were on at all times, even between sets. Except that the straps weren't actually wrapped around the barbells.
Trying to understand the point.
