Hi Guys,
I have been looking for something my brother had on his rack, and that I have seen sold on complete rack systems: a shorter steel bar for the barbell to rest on when bench pressing. I do not like the "j-hook" style as the little bar is welded to the hook, and that weld has a potential to fail. I know this is unlikely, but as the bench is realistically the only way to die while lifting, I would prefer the extra safety of a solid bar when I rack the barbell after finishing a heavy set.
I am fairly certain that the starting strength rack utilizes such bars as seen below. Does anyone know where to buy a set? I have scoured and only found J-hook style.

I have never seen a j-hook failure however the problem with many of them is that they are too deep and require too much of a lift up to clear the hook. What you have there looks like a nice way to go.
