    You lower them more slowly.

    In the RCAF, a common synonym for "firefighters" is "runway incursion". Is this a thing in the USAF too, or are your firefighters capable of following basic instructions?
    Same mission, to primarily react to issues on the flightline, but also ready to respond to other issues on the base or surrounding community. If yours can't follow basic instructions, perhaps check with the community fire department.

    The thing I like about straps is that you can set them at different heights from the front to the back. This gives you more height options than you would otherwise have using pins. I personally have not had any issues with the bar rolling on straps.
