I was just disappointed to try to dead lift 5lbs more than I've been lifting for a month now and have it feel like the bar was coming out of a tar pit.

Could be a plan. I like the football. I think Saturday is open in the afternoon. After church.

Just some thoughts about the little break I took:

I wanted to trim down over the holidays (I came within 2lbs of my goal, so close enough).
I didn't stop lifting, just cut down to 2 days a week and cut out the oly stuff, also did a bit more conditioning (though nothing crazy, really).
Even though I figured on losing some strength I've still been disappointed (I was squatting less at 190 than I have in the past at 187). So now the question is, can I regain some of the lost strength eating at maintenance for a while? I was pretty happy maintaining my 5x365 deadlifts. A little over a week ago I started taking creatine, HMB and ZMA (all except HMB I've used in the past) and put on a couple of lbs and generally tried to support recovery a little better. Then after a week of that I tried to DL 5x370 and bombed after 2 reps. Energy is crap, and dead lifting is a mind game for me... for the last few months I've walked up to the bar knowing I would get 5 reps but something didn't click on Wednesday even though I thought the supps and extra eating should've given me the edge (mentally and physically).
All in all, I'm happy that my dead lift is well ahead of where it was (previous years couldn't break 5x335). Presses haven't been horribly affected and I was fairly happy when I resumed snatching within 10lbs of my all time best. I haven't resumed Power Cleans yet, expect them to be as frustrating as ever.

Like I said, there's no point to this, just some thoughts.

Edit: maybe I have a bit of a point after all.
I think I may just need to ramp up and lay down a base of volume. This is what I did last year, starting very humbly after my hernia repair doing 5x5's, even multiple sets of dead lifts. I want to stick with my bastardized TM template so maybe I can build the volume days up and stay close to my maxes on intensity days (or even get some PR's).
