    Wednesday July 18 - Change Up/Volume

    Bench 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 235x2, 275x1x2, 305x3x3

Well, Oldster, you said this day would come. The 3x3s were, um, challenging. I got them all but there were some butt ugly lifts in there. Between getting off of the planned schedule and there being plenty of work related stuff keeping me late at the salt mine I am just not in the groove I'd prefer to be in for this Volume Challenge. The first set saw two solid reps and the third required a lot of leg drive. The second set was just loose all the way through, poor focus. The third set was tighter for reps 1 and 2 and #3 was the longest lock out I've had on a bench rep in a long time. I got it but it was a grind.

I'll hit the normal Saturday Recovery and then next Monday is 2x2.

Hah! Shit, Doc, that was good.

Killer. That Oldster guy knows a little bit about a little bit, don't he?

Thanks, Mac. I'm doing my best to gum up the project's timing but, yes, it does work. Oldster does indeed know a bit about a bit.

Getting off schedule alone is enough to make the whole thing challenging. I'm pleased to see you got it alright though. My lifting buddy has a theory, its that once its in the book, its in the book no matter how ugly it was!

We'll discuss your 2x2 after the fact. I don't want to give you any indication one way or the other.

Nice job. Was 305x3x3 any sort of PR?

    Thanks, all.

I agree, I'm sure the 3x3 would have been better if last week wasn't so hosed up. And, yes, it's a current era PR. I don't remember doing 3s back in the day, it was the 70s you know, but I know I was capable of it. I think I know what you are hinting at about the 2x2 but will see how it goes next week.

OK, O., I'll send you a PM before I do the 2x2 and you tell me if I was right afterwards.

Thursday July 19 - Range Finding

    Squat 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x3, 253x3, 295x1, 335x1, 355x1, 315x3

"Luke, you got ta get your mind right." Next week is the pay off on Oldster's Volume Bench Special. I am staying away from heavy-for-me Volume squats until that routine closes out. So, I just did a couple of singles and a back off triple and called it a night.
