    Saturday July 21 - Recovery

    Bench 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 225x2, 255x2x6
    Squat 45x5, 95x5, 185x5, 225x1, 275x3x2

That's it until next week and the 2x2 and 1x2 tests on the bench. I plan to revert to the old scheme afterwards.

The rest of the weekend will be spent moving everything out of the late in-law's house. The sucker finally sold. Now I only have to mow one lawn, rake one lawn, shovel one driveway....

    Demanding, isn't it.

It'll be great. I used to have to do the same thing and even with my 4 acre lawn, I like just having to worry about one place.

Monday July 23 - Heavy doubles

    Bench 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 235x3, 275x2, 295x1x2, 320x2x2

The first top set was solid for the first rep and a lock out with wandering elbows on the second. The second set had a not quite as strong first rep. The second rep was a slooow push after the transition; I got a bit off kilter, the spotter touched it, and my butt left the bench. It wasn't a fail but it wasn't a real rep either.

Heavy singles are on tap later in the week.

Good stuff Bob. Is this any sort of PR?

Sully, I will be shooting for a 335 single and depending on how that goes to follow it with a 340. O, yes, it's a current era PR for a double. Mac, thanks. Pressing is just something I'm kind of good at plus I have this notion that I can top what I benched in college so I'm concentrating on it lately.

Thursday July 26 - Heavy Singles

    Bench 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 225x2, 255x3x2, 295x1x2, 335x1,F and because those top sets finished up Oldster's Volume Madness Protocol I did a back off set for giggles: 225 x 15.

It's a current era PR. Oldster kinda knows his way around the bench. His routine worked nicely to get me off of a volume 5X plateau and to post a new 1RM. The first 335 was steady, the form wasn't awful, it wasn't great but, you know, it was a limit rep. The second was especially strong out of the hole, I mean rock solid with good bar speed, but I stalled at the transition. I don't think that it will be too long until I'll be ready to add another 5 lbs and give 340 a try.

Congrats! Been watching this evolution for a few weeks, and I'm excited for you. Big time congrats!

And yes, that Oldster guy knows a little bit about benching!

As always, thank you Mac. It was a good run and I put 10 lbs on my 1RM. Now, if I just need keep raising the floor good things will continue to happen.

    Saturday July 28 - Recovery

    Squat 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 225x1, 245x5x2
    Press 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5x2

It's good to get back into the normal routine, especially to add regular pressing back into the mix.

It is a spectacular morning in South Cheddarville, about 70°F and sunny, yet the drones were rolling on the treadmills and eliptos at the gym. I just don't get it.
