    I was sick from Dec 11-December 13. I think it was the flu- chills, aches, fever, sore throat with very sudden onset. Stinks because I got a flu shot but I am feeling a little better today except I didn't sleep much last two nights because of illness. I am planning on doing volume day and light day, then skipping intensity day to resume volume day next week.

    Dec 14 2011 Volume Day

    Squats w/ 260 5,5,5,5,5 Ok- which is surprising because I don't feel 100% due to illness/lack of sleep. First three sets high bar, last two low bar. Switching back and forth between squat types on volume day seems to be working. Low bar is definitely easier but I feel quads are getting better workout w/ high bar.

    Bench w/ 330 5,5,5,5,5 Easy- also a pleasant surprise.

    Chins w/ 35 lbs 5,5,5 Ok except for a little kipping on last reps of sets 2 and 3. Will jump this up to 45 lbs next time. The weighted chins along w/ kroc rows have vastly improved my grip strength on deadlift.

    On a serious note. Might want to shift light day a bit if you're skipping intensity day, or do another light day instead. I did something similar a few months back (volume, light) then I went to a long weekend and was battered from the effect of volume day. Not a pleasant feeling when you want to relax. An extra light stimulus might aid recovery, perhaps you could try.

    You're right- it was 230 not 330. 100 lb jump would have been impressive.

    I was a little worried about full recovery from volume day in 4 days. I'll warm up and see how if feels.

    Dec 16 2011 Light Day

    Squat w/ 135- 5 This was warmup set but left hamstring felt pulled by end of set. It hurt pretty good for about an hour but seems to hurt less now (2 hours later). I stopped squatting at that point. Hopefully this isn't any real injury and I'll be fine for volume day on Monday Dec 19.

    Press w/ 152 3,3,3,3,3 This was very hard.

    Hanging Leg lifts 8,8,8 Tough.

    Kroc Rows w/ 75 lbs- 20 reps/arm. Pretty tough.

    Dec 19 2011 Volume Day (Note this volume day was only 5 days after last volume day)
    Squats w/ 265 5,5,5,5,5 Last two sets were pretty tough
    Bench w/ 230 5,5,5,5,5 Ok except for tough last set. Probably not fully recovered from last volume workout.
    Chins w/ 35 5,5,5 Ok

    Since we lost about a months worth of posts- I'll just summarize from Dec 19- Jan 25.
    Still doing Texas method- just started alternating press/bench on Texas method because bench was starting to regress on Intensity day probably because of too much volume on bench.
    I'm now up:
    335 x 5 squats
    275 x 5 bench
    160 x 3 press
    390 x 5 deadlift
    3 x 5 chins w/ 45

    starting strength coach development program
    Jan 27 2012 Intensity Day

    Squats w/ 335 - 5 Ok w/ wraps

    Press w/ 160- 3 PR ok

    Deadlifts w/ 395- 1 Big Fail. Three weeks ago I did 390 x 5, then 395 x 2, now 395 x1. I'm going to do a reset here and add at least 1 set of deficit deadlifts because it seems like my weakness is off the floor.
    Deadlifts w/ 315- 5 Ok
    Deficit Deadlifts w/ 225 - 5 Ok
