Bench Press Intermediate Program
I have been doing the program for about three years. I have a question on Bench reps.
43, 230 lbs 5'11" Squat 495, Dead 505, Press 225, Clean 240
I finally hit my 300 lb benchpress goal after set backs, injury, restarts, etc. I had a week long canoe trip in August that really set me back and am finally back where I was before.
I have been running the Texas method: 255x5x5 day one, rest two days, 300x1x4 and failed the last 1 rep
Any advice on what my next sets should look like? Go up to 300.5 lbs and try for 5 reps? Stay at 300 for 5 reps? I found I could not do more that 5 reps for heavy bench presses even at lower heavy sets. My new goal is 315.
