    Meet Prep #3-15

    Squat - 105kg 1x2

    Bench - 65kg 1x2

    Deadlift - 145kg 1x2

Well, that's it. Singles at 80% of openers. Everything feels pretty good, though the bad knee is a little puffy. Squat felt light, Bench likewise and the Deadlift was felt fabulous - double over hand flew up, was able to settle into position like never before.

Been working on visualization the last few weeks and that's my focus the next 48 hours. That and positive affirmations.

    I've done the work!

    I'm strong and ready!

    I'm comfortable with my numbers!

    See y'all on the otherside.

Sometimes I think that talking about what we do is a bit like regaling your pals about your round of golf - you're excited about that stunning five iron you hit to two feet from a downhill, sidehill lie and they couldn't really give a rip.

But it's my log and I'll write if I want to (apologies to Leslie Gore).

What a meet. The tl:dr is that I went 9 for 9. The details are this: Squat 150kg PR / Bench 90kg / Deadlift 200kg PR.

Damn near everything came off without a hitch. My preparation was such that I actually got a full night's sleep last night, and that never happens. Came in under the 93kg weight limit at 90.91kg. The only fly in the ointment was the fact that my balky knee was blown up like a balloon. I feared that I might not be able to hit depth, things were that bad.

    But we endeavored to persevere.

I was first off in the flight. Amazingly enough, I had no butterflies. Squat went 130 / 140 / 150 and caught one red light at 140 - on my good leg?!?

Bench was - well, the Bench. Opened at 77.5 and when I was done the side judge pulled me aside to tell me to keep my ass in check. THat slight distraction caused me to forget to enter my second lift. So the second attempt was 80kg, no issues except my hip started cramp. I was supposed to go for 92.5kg, but I thought that that was to big a jump, so I called for 90kg. Good call - I fought to the lockout, 92.5kg would not have gone up.

    Deads were c'est magnafique! 180 flew up. 190 flew up. 200 flew up. That's a 7.5kg PR.

I was one of three Masters III lifters and had the best Wilks of the group. I was the only one in the 93kg flight - so hardware for me, whoohoo.

The results not withstanding, what a great journey. I learned a lot about myself over the last 3 1/2 months. Can't wait for the next meet...

Oh and thanks to Lou T and Leah for their kind assistance prior to the meet!
